What is a Supply Chain?
According to the Supply Chain Council, supply chain is defined as follows:

"The supply chain encompasses every effort involved in producing and delivering a final product or service, from the supplier's supplier to the customer's customer."

The essence of supply chain lies in the demand and supply of a product or service.

Supply chain is the end-to-end process and the necessary infrastructure required for the production and delivery of finished goods and services from the point of origin to the point of consumption. The supplier of raw materials or a finished good is known as point of origin. One who purchases raw materials or a finished good is known as the point of consumption.

The supply chain process is a series of actions taking place quickly and efficiently in order to meet customers’ requirements. Success of supply chain depends on the collaboration of business partners who have a common goal of eliminating excess costs from the supply chain. Today, integrated supply chain is resulting in reduction in cost, improvement in quality, and reducing the time-to-market of a product.

Logistics Management
Logistics is a specific part of supply chain that is related to the physical flow of goods and services from the point of origin to the point of consumption. Logistics include the details of sourcing of raw materials, manufacturing, transporting, services, warehousing, etc.

According to the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), a professional organization for Logistics and SCM professionals, logistics is defined as follows:

“The process of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements.”

It ensures that right materials are available at the right time, at the right place, of the right quality, and at the right cost. It also includes inventory management; that is, the management of the quantity of materials and goods, supply-demand management planning, and management of third party logistics service providers.

Our supply chain solutions are focused on helping clients address key issues like purchasing, inbound logistics, operations, warehouse management, outbound logistics, and demand management.
